About Perspic
Perspic is a Canadian electronics manufacturer specializing in CAN bus hardware for harsh environments. We design, build, and sell galvanic CAN isolators, data loggers, and custom CAN interfaces for industrial, mining, agricultural, and automotive applications.
We're based in Northern Ontario — an area where the equipment we build for actually operates. Our products run in underground mining vehicles, off-highway machinery, and industrial automation systems where electrical noise, vibration, and contamination are daily realities, not edge cases.
We're a small team. That means you talk to the engineers and technicians who built the product — not a support queue. It also means we can take on custom work that larger companies won't touch.
Matthew Gougeon
Perspic was founded by Matthew Gougeon, a Systems Design Engineer (University of Waterloo) with hands-on experience designing and operating industrial equipment. Before focusing on Perspic full-time, Matt spent years as Engineering Manager at MineMaster, where the frustration of finding reliable, fit-for-purpose CAN bus hardware was a recurring theme. That gap is what inspired Matt to build Perspic.
Griffin Gougeon
Head assembly technician Griffin is responsible for builds and quality assurance. His training as an industrial and powerline electrician gave him a strong understanding of electrical fundamentals. Griffin constantly strives for efficiency and quality in the assembly process and is the backbone of our production floor. If it's built, tested, and shipped, Griffin's hands were on it.
What We Build
CAN bus is the backbone of modern industrial and automotive systems — J1939 in heavy equipment, CANopen in industrial machinery, raw CAN in automotive. But the hardware ecosystem is dominated by either cheap commodity devices that fail in the field, or expensive enterprise tools that assume a lab environment.
Perspic products are designed for the middle ground: professional-grade hardware, built to survive real field conditions, at a price point that makes sense for engineers and small OEMs.
Every product we sell is something we've designed and manufactured ourselves. We're not a reseller.
Manufacturing
Our devices are assembled and tested in-house in Northern Ontario, Canada. We maintain tight quality control through the full build process — from PCB assembly through final testing and verification. ISO 9001 principles guide our quality processes.
